PASTORS ROD & LEZLIE
Pastors Rod and Julie Trusty arrived at the Westwood Hills Church of God on June 9, 2013. A few weeks later, Julie collapsed from a mycotic brain aneurysm and spent 43 days in the NICU of Shands Hospital in Gainesville. After being unresponsive for many days, Julie passed away on February 5, 2014 leaving Pastor Rod alone to raise his 14-year old daughter, Baylee.
Serving as a single dad and pastor for over two years, God brought an amazing woman of God and awesome mother, Lezlie K. Rutland, into Pastor Rod’s life. Being introduced by Pastor Rod’s friend and Lezlie’s pastor in Atlanta, Georgia, Pastor and Lezlie were married on August 5, 2016 after a brief engagement. Lezlie’s husband had passed away from cancer in early 2016. Pastor Rod and Lezlie are the proud parents of four children and six grandchildren.

Pastor Rod and Lezlie arrived in Tyler, Texas in 2021 after being retired for over 4 years. With a wealth of ministerial experience, Pastor Trusty’s background includes serving as an Associate Pastor, Youth and Music Pastor, Youth Pastor, State Evangelist and Lead Pastor in the states of Michigan, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and Texas. As a Lead Pastor he is extremely successful in ministry and church growth. In 2022, Pastor Rod led New Life to double in attendance and the church had it’s most successful year financially in the 20-year history of the church. In October, 2024, God released Pastor Rod and Lezlie from New Life in Tyler and relocated them to the Cooper City Church of God in Florida where they currently served as Lead Pastors.
Pastor Trusty is recognized in Pentecostal circles as one of the premier preachers of today. His dynamic pulpit delivery is evangelistic and yet always with a relevant and uncompromising message. His ministry style is a combination of comprehensive understanding of the Word of God, sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, and a wonderful sense of humor. Pastor Trusty’s passion is to move people into the presence of the Lord through praise, worship and the ministry of the Word.
His ministry is complimented by his wife Lezlie’s intercession and prophetic gifts. Pastor Lezlie traveled with Evangelist Jamie Massey for 14 years, preaching in India and other areas in the U.S. Lezlie leads the Women of Life Ministries at Cooper City Church, is used greatly in the ministry of healing and deliverance and her passion is for hurting and abused women. She also has a God-given talent for interior decorating and uses her gift to make God’s house and her house a thing of beauty.
